Committee Secretary Vacancy
Make Time Friendship Group (MTFG) is seeking a motivated individual with good written and verbal communication skills to voluntarily support the development of the Committee and to work with the Group to achieve its strategic vision.
The ideal candidate will have a range of skills in business administration including good organisation and IT skills. Candidates are also required to have a sound knowledge of Committee procedures, particularly duties and responsibilities of a Committee member and principles of best practice and be flexible to meet at times convenient to the Committee.
The Make Time Friendship Group (MTFG) is an unincorporated organisation run by a committee of members, for members. Established in early 2009 for people who find it hard to meet and socialise due to a lack of confidence and low self-esteem, MTFG seeks to offer a welcoming environment which will enable individuals to overcome such reservations.
The Group provides an important meeting place for two hours every Wednesday for the lonely, elderly and those who feel isolated in the community and has become a source of support and help for individual members to develop their skills, self confidence and involvement with each other by sharing time together in worthwhile activities each time they attend members meetings.
About the Role
The primary purpose of the Committee is to maintain a strategic role in directing the work of MTFG. The Committee is responsible for the conduct and overall control of the Group’s affairs and for ensuring compliance with MTFG’s values and objectives through the establishment of policies and plans. The role of the Secretary is ultimately to ensure the efficiency of the Committee and will work effectively with the Committee, in particular the Chair and Administration Team of MTFG for the continuity of Committee business in line with statutory requirements.
The role is currently unpaid, however all Committee members will be reimbursement of reasonable out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred.
